Caramelized Shallots

  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 2 lbs shallots, diced (or white onion)
  • 3 tbs sugar
  • 3 tbs rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper


Melt butter in a saute pan.  Add shallots and sugar. Toss, cover and cook over medium heat until brown. Add vinegar, salt and pepper. Cook until caramelized.
